Germany and Czech 2010 - 2

20 June 2010 (Sun) – Fussen – 天鵝堡

We got up quite early today, as there are free all-you-can-eat breakfast served in the hotel. The dining place is on the ground floor. The place is good. The food is also good. Many choices of bread, butter and ham. The bread is very tough, all German breads are tough. The breakfast are cold generally, except the egg.

We planned to go to Fussen, but the weather was not good. We asked the hotel reception – Vadim, and he told us that the weather wouldn’t be fine in the coming few days, which was unusual for summer Munich. We were unlucky, but we still stick on our plan.

We went to Fussen by train of DB Bahn. The train part of Hauptbanhof is very big, modern and new, with large food courts, souvenir shops and supermarkets. A very convenient place and it was only 10 minutes walk from our hotel. We liked it.

It is easy to travel by train in Germany. Particularly the DB ticket machines help a lot. You can buy the tickets, check the train schedule and even print a timetable with all essential information: train nos., nos. of transfer, time, transfer stations. It is very user-friendly.

The train ticket is expensive. We bought a Bayern Ticket. Eur 28 for 2-5 persons to travel unlimited ride of DB Bahn, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram, bus in one day.

It takes around 2 hours to go to Fussen. After that we need to take a bus ride to the castle areas which takes around 10 minutes.

The weather was really bad, it kept raining.

We visited the Hohenschwangau first, as it is located at the lower altitude.  We bought the audio guide to visit the castle inside.
